The Chichester Festival Theatre production of Goodnight Mister Tom by the Children’s Touring Partnership will run at London’s Phoenix Theatre for a limited 9 week season, opening 27 November (previews from 22 November). Olivier award-winner Oliver Ford Davies will reprise his role as Mister Tom. The production will then tour the UK.

Adapted from Michelle Magorian’s novel by David Wood,Goodnight Mister Tom follows the story of the sad William Beech, who is evacuated to the idyllic English countryside and builds a remarkable and moving friendship with the elderly recluse Tom Oakley. All seems perfect until William is devastatingly summoned by his mother back to London.

Further casting is yet to be announced.

The production, which originally toured between February and May last year, will be directed by Angus Jackson.

The tour will begin on 28 January 2013 at the Manchester Opera House. The production will then tour to Sunderland Empire, Milton Keynes Theatre, Brighton Theatre Royal, York Grand Opera House, Woking New Victoria Theatre, Southend Palace Theatre, Aylesbury Waterside Theatre, Glasgow King’s Theatre and Birmingham Alexandra.

Goodnight Mister Tom will fill the space at the Phoneix soon to be vacated Blood Brothers, which closes on 27 October.
