One day is very different from another; I could be in Belgium, in Argentina, in London… it could be a showday, a turnaround day or a travelling day.

Normally on tour when we are performing shows I train for at least an hour a day; in the winter I can train for more, maybe four hours on the wire. My job is not just performing, I am on many different teams. Building the tent, building the set and rigging. There is plenty to learn.

Travelling can make little things into big missions. Yesterday I was up until very late making my caravan look nice. There is always something to repair, always another mission. I like this. I enjoy community life, spending lots of time in conversation. Each person is different and there are so many stories.

It is difficult as I am away from my husband but at the same time, he has the same job so if I am at home it may be him who is away. This is the life we have chosen. Its easier for me as my sister is on tour with me.

The show we perform is promenade, the audience are so close we can really contact with them. Its about the characters, very human and close to ourselves. Everything I do is about me. Sometimes it seems strange to expose yourself everyday to 500 people – sometimes I think, wow – this is crazy… everyday you need to be full on, if you are angry or sad or whatever you forget everything when the show is on. But this is the reason to be here – for two hours a day to be here 100 per cent completely.

NoFit State Circus is at the Camden Roundhouse from 28 March to 19 April, and visits the Brighton Fringe from 28 April to 10 May.
