Dr Seuss’ oddball creations come to the stage this Christmas
Casting has been announced for Seussical the Musical, which opens this November at Southwark Playhouse.
Based on the works of Dr Seuss, the musical has a score and is co-conceived by Monty Python's Eric Idle, with a story by Tony Award winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.
Marc Pickering (Boardwalk Empire) will star as the Cat in the Hat, joined by Scott Paige (Eugenius!) as Horton the Elephant and Amy Perry (Thoroughly Modern Millie) as Gertrude McFuzz.
Katie Paine (We Will Rock You) will play Mayzie La Bird alongside Ngozi Ugoh (The Book of Mormon) who will play Sour Kangaroo and Anna Barnes (Cats) who plays Jojo. The cast is completed by Daisy Steere (42nd Street), Adam Dawson (Spring Awakening), Robbie Fell (Song), Rhys Benjamin (Bring It On), Marianna Neofitou (Grease) and Sarah Spence (9 to 5 The Musical).
Directed by James Tobias, the show has choreography by Chris Whittaker, casting by Harry Blumenau, set design by Justin Williams and Jonny Rust, sound design by Nico Menghini and musical direction by James Doughty.
