Cirque du Soleil's Avatar show Toruk to have UK premiere
Toruk – The First Flight is inspired by James Cameron's hit film Avatar
Cirque du Soleil's Toruk – The First Flight is to make its UK premiere in Manchester 2019 before heading to London.
The show, which is inspired by James Cameron's film Avatar, will run at the Manchester Arena between the 20th and 23rd June. It will then open 26 to 30 June at the O2 in London.
The piece has had input from Cameron and depicts the world of Pandora through multimedia projections, set-pieces and the largest collection of puppetry in Cirque du Soleil history. The narrative is a prequel to Avatar.
Cameron said: "Avatar is really meant to be a celebration of human motion and human emotion and Cirque is able to capture that absolutely perfectly, because it's all about human performance and physicality. It makes you feel alive to watch these performers."
Michel Lemieux and Victor Pilon direct the show, which is narrated by a Na'vi Storyteller and is set thousands of years before the events depicted in the film Avatar.
Tickets go on sale to the public on Friday 16 November.
