Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York) has announced the date of its final performance.

The musical, written and composed by Jim Barne and Kit Buchan, will conclude its Broadway run at the Longacre Theatre on 29 November 2026. It will have played 21 previews and 428 performances when it closes.

Directed and choreographed by Tim Jackson, the musical, which has also played in London and Boston, received eight Tony nominations earlier this year.

On Broadway, Sam Tutty stars as Dougal, a role he also played at the Kiln Theatre in north London in 2023 and the Criterion Theatre in the West End the following year. The West End run earned a glowing five-star review from WhatsOnStage. Opposite him is Christiani Pitts as Robin, who reprises her role from the American Repertory Theater. WhatsOnStage and Olivier Award winner Tutty was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance, as was Pitts.

Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York) opened on Broadway in late 2025. In it, Dougal, an impossibly upbeat Brit, is visiting New York City for the first time to attend the wedding of the father he’s never met. Robin, the sister of the bride and a no-nonsense New Yorker with a lot of errands to run, picks Dougal up from the airport and they begin their journey together.

The creative team features associate director and choreographer Asmeret Ghebremichael, scenic and costume design by Soutra Gilmour, lighting design by Jack Knowles, sound design by Tony Gayle, orchestrator Lux Pyramid, music supervisor Nick Finlow, and music director Ted Arthur. The production stage manager is Judith Schoenfeld.

The standbys for Robin and Dougal are Phoenix Best, Austin Colburn, Jana Larell Glover, and Vincent Michael.

The piece was originally titled The Season and developed through the Stiles and Drewe MTI Mentorship Award.
