Truth or Falsehood: A ‘New’ Shakespeare Play???

Double Falsehood; or, the Distrest Lovers, first performed as a ‘lost’ original play by Shakespeare in 1727, has been dismissed as, well, a falsehood by most experts since. However, scholars at The Arden Shakespeare have now endorsed its credentials and made it available in annotated form for the first time in 250 years. According to today’s Times, the Royal Shakespeare Company will mount a production of it in its first season back at Stratford’s refurbished Royal Shakespeare Theatre, once it reopens next year.
