Find out what you snapped up tickets for last month
How is it May already?! The year is zooming by but here at WhatsOnStage we're always surprised at how you're all so quick to make sure you don't miss out on the hottest tickets around. Here's what you've been booking for in April.
Cadogan Hall, 26, 27 and 28 October
Ticket sales on WhatsOnStage this month are proof that this Broadway star is still firmly in your hearts. He's currently starring across the pond in Waitress and we will get to see a little of his charm in London later this year.
Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith 15 June
Another concert, this time from the delightful Ben Platt who made his name in New York playing Evan Hansen in Dear Evan Hansen. It's a hot topic at the moment, as the show prepares to open over here and casting speculation gets more and more frenzied. But you all know when to take the chance to see the original Evan.
Cadogan Hall, 19 May
A crack musical theatre cast comes together for this concert performance of the classic musical. Janie Dee, Joanna Riding, Hadley Fraser star alongside the inimitable Patricia Routledge (who was also in the National Theatre version in 1992). There'll be a full blown, 31-piece orchestra conducted by Alex Parker, so you can likely expect fireworks.
Piccadilly Theatre, 11 May to 3 August
After running at the National Theatre, featuring three of our best actors, Sam Mendes' production transfers to the West End. It's easy to see why this appears on this list, what with the excellent reviews from the initial run.
London Coliseum, until 8 June
It's open and on and Kelsey Grammer and Danielle de Niese are singing their hearts out at the Coliseum. You all know when not to miss the chance to watch such a rarely produced and remarkable musical, so you've been booking up to catch it while it's hot.
Phoenix Theatre, until 14 September
The Olivier Award-winning show based on a true story is currently delighting West End audiences. You've all heard it's a total heartwarming treat that will have you weeping from start to finish, and you've made sure you're there for it. Well done.
Adelphi Theatre, until 19 October
With the latest Cast Album Karaoke offering audiences a chance to actually be in the show (!!) tickets are continuing to fly off the proverbial shelves for Sara Bareilles' musical.
Vaudeville Theatre, 24 July to 8 September
Jill Murphy's brilliant children's books about a clumsy witch may not have had the same reach as the Harry Potter novels, but they are just as easy to devour. Here's a chance to catch Mildred Hubble in the flesh in the West End and introduce a new generation to the brilliant character.
Various venues, UK tour
Dammit Janet! The appeal of this show is unending and there's never a better opportunity to see it than with Joanna Clifton and Ben Adams, Duncan James and Stephen Webb as your favourite freaky characters.
Noël Coward Theatre, from 29 October
Despite casting not being announced yet, it's clear you all know what's good for you. And that's Dear Evan Hansen. New York's hit musical is arriving here and it would be a ridiculous thing to miss out on. Well done then, to those of you who booked throughout April in order to make sure you are all over it.
