Trailer released for Ink, based on James Graham’s hit play

A trailer has been released for Ink, Danny Boyle’s forthcoming film adaptation of James Graham’s play.

The film stars Jack O’Connell as journalist Larry Lamb, Guy Pearce as media proprietor Rupert Murdoch and Claire Foy as Jules Davies.

Based on Graham’s play (which picked up two Tony Awards and an Olivier), Ink explores the creation of a new kind of tabloid newspaper and the relationship between Lamb and Murdoch. The original stage production of Ink, written by Graham, premiered at the Almeida Theatre in 2017 before transferring to the Duke of York’s Theatre in the West End and later opening on Broadway.

Boyle directs the film, following work including Slumdog Millionaire and Steve Jobs.

Ink will be released in select cinemas in the United States on 11 December 2026 before arriving on Netflix in the United States and Latin America on 8 January 2027. The film will have its world premiere as the opening film of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. Plans for a UK release have not yet been disclosed.

In the meantime, Graham’s newest play, The Standard of Living, has its West End premiere this month.
