James Graham's Ink will have its American premiere in April 2019, it has been announced.

Graham's piece, which opened at the Almeida in north London in June 2017, went on to transfer into the West End last winter. The show was nominated for four Olivier Awards and won one for Best Supporting Actor in a Play for Bertie Carvel this month.

Directed by Olivier Award-winner and Tony Award-nominee Rupert Goold, Graham's show follows newspaper owner Rupert Murdoch as he turns The Sun newspaper into a global sensation. In her review of the show's original run, Sarah Crompton said that "the supple power of Graham's writing always has the capacity to wrong-foot expectations, to frame difficult questions."

The Broadway production will open at the Samuel J Friedman Theatre on 24 April, produced by the Manhattan Theatre Club, Almeida and Sonia Friedman Productions. Casting and the creative team for the show is to be announced.
