Dear Evan Hansen announces West End open casting call

There will be two open calls for auditions for the West End production of Dear Evan Hansen in 2019.

The announcement was made on Jill Green Casting's Twitter page, with the auditions taking place at London's Pineapple Dance Studios on 4 February and Manchester Dancehouse on 18 February.

The auditions will be looking for individuals to play the titular role, alongside the role of Connor Murphy, Zoe Murphy, Jared Kleinman and Alana Beck.

The call-out stresses: "No need to submit your details, just turn up!" with auditionees expected to bring 16 bars of sheet music and a CV including a photo.

The show, which opens in the West End in November 2019, is written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and has a book by Steven Levenson. It originally opened in Washington before arriving on Broadway in 2016. It follows a student who has social anxiety who fakes a series of letters and messages from a deceased member of his class to gain popularity

It won six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Actor in a Musical for Ben Platt who starred in the show from its inception. Michael Greif directed the show, which has orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, set from David Korins and projection designs by Peter Nigrini.
