Dear Evan Hansen confirmed for the West End

The hit US musical ”Dear Evan Hansen” will be coming to the West End

Hit Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen is to transfer to the West End, it has been confirmed.

The Grammy Award-winning show will open in 2019 at the Noël Coward Theatre, with specific dates to be confirmed in November.

Casting is yet to be announced, but according to sources, producers are committed to a British cast.

The show is written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and has a book by Steven Levenson. It originally opened in Washington before arriving on Broadway in 2016. It follows a student who has social anxiety who fakes a series of letters and messages from a deceased member of his class to gain popularity

It won six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Actor in a Musical for Ben Platt who starred in the show from its inception. Michael Greif directed the show, which has orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, set from David Korins and projection designs by Peter Nigrini.
