Composer Bryan Adams has said that the musical adaptation of Pretty Woman will hopefully come to the UK next year.

Speaking at his O2 Arena concert at the end of May (in which the show's star Samantha Barks performed one of the numbers from the musical), Adams said: "We hope that Pretty Woman will come to the UK next year, so you'll have to hold onto your pants until then".

The show is based on the classic film starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, which won a Golden Globe and became a cult classic.

Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde) directs and choreographs the world premiere production which started its life at Chicago's Oriental Theatre before transferring to Broadway, where it opens next month at the Nederlander Theatre. It stars Barks as Vivian Ward, alongside Andy Karl (Groundhog Day) as Edward Lewis for the Broadway run.

Pretty Woman has an original score by Adams and Jim Vallance, with a book by Garry Marshall and the film's screenwriter JF Lawton.
