The Greatest Showman to transfer to the West End

Disney Theatrical Group has announced that its stage adaptation of The Greatest Showman will open in the West End.

The production, based on the 2017 film about the rise to fame for P T Barnum, features music by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, a book by Tim Federle, and is directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw.

The stage show will now run at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane from spring 2027, following a sold-out run at Bristol Hippodrome earlier this year.

The score includes songs from the film, such as “The Greatest Show”, “A Million Dreams”, “Come Alive”, “Rewrite the Stars”, “Never Enough” and the Golden Globe-winning “This Is Me”, alongside new material written by Pasek and Paul for the stage production.

The musical is based on the 20th Century Studios film, with a story by Jenny Bicks, and marks the first title from the studio to be adapted for the stage by Disney Theatrical Group. The Seelig Group, a producer of the original film, is also producing the stage version.

Performance dates, booking details and the performance schedule will be announced at a later date.

The show will mark the third Disney production at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, following Frozen and Hercules – with Hercules currently entering its final weeks.

Initial casting has been confirmed.
