The immersive theatre company will present the 1996 film in August
Immersive theatre company Secret Cinema has announced that it will present Baz Luhrmann's 1996 screen adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet for its next production.
Following on from the company's hit production of Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge last year, the tale of the star-crossed lovers will be transformed into this promenade piece that will see punters putting aside their warring houses, discarding their weapons and entering fair Verona.
Tickets for the event, which will take place from 9 to 19 August at a secret location, go on sale to members from 15 May and on general sale on 18 May, priced from £49.
Luhrmann's film stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes as Romeo and Juliet, with other cast members including Dash Mihok as Benvolio, John Leguizamo as Tybalt, Miriam Margolyes as Nurse, Harold Perrineau as Mercutio and Pete Postlethwaite as Father Laurence. The soundtrack features "Kissing You" by Des'ree and "Young Hearts Run Free" by Kym Mazelle.
