Open auditions announced for Motown the Musical

The show has also extended booking until January 2019

Motown The Musical has announced open auditions for the roles of young Michael Jackson, Berry Gordy and Stevie Wonder.

Taking place at Brixton Community Base on 19 August, successful auditionees will have a chance to join the musical which has a book by Gordy, based on his autobiography.

Motown opened at the Shaftesbury Theatre in February 2016 and has now extended booking until 5 January 2019, with 500,000 new tickets now on sale.

Fresh faces will also be joining the cast, with David Albury and Kayi Ushe taking over the roles of Smokey Robinson and Marvin Gaye respectively from 4 September. They will perform alongside Cedric Neal as Berry Gordy and Lucy St. Louis as Diana Ross.

Directed by Charles Randolph-Wright, the show features Motown classics including Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, I’ll Be There, Dancing In The Street and Stop! In The Name Of Love.

Motown the Musical is now booking at the Shaftesbury Theatre until 5 January 2019.
