Matt Henry to star in The Two Noble Kinsmen at Shakespeare's Globe

Casting has been announced for The Two Noble Kinsmen, which opens at Shakespeare's Globe in May.

Directed by Barrie Rutter – his first production since stepping down as artistic director of Northern Broadsides – the cast will feature Paul Stocker (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time) as Palamon, Bryan Dick (Public Enemy, Young Vic) as Arcite, and Olivier Award-winner Matt Henry (Kinky Boots) as Pirithous.

They will be joined by Jude Akuwudike (The Royale, Bush Theatre) as Theseus, Moyo Akandé (Flowers for Mrs Harris, Sheffield Crucible) as Hippolyta, Ellora Torchia (Broadchurch, ITV) as Emilia, Sue Devaney (Shameless, Channel 4) as First Queen, and Francesca Mills (Cyrano de Bergerac, Northern Broadsides) as Jailer's Daughter.

Completing the cast is Andy Cryer, Melissa James, Kat Rose-Martin, Jon Trenchard and Jos Vantyler.

Inspired by the play's Morris language and references, Rutter's production is set in pastoral ‘Merrie England' and will feature original music composed by folk musician Eliza Carthy, choreography by Ewan Wardrop and design by Jessica Worrall.
