More big names – Mark Gatiss and Nicola Walker – are in the frame to join Catherine Tate in Marianne Elliott’s festive revival of Alan Ayckbourn’s Season’s Greetings, which opens at the National Theatre in December. Gatiss, best known as a member of The League of Gentlemen and for his work as an actor/writer on Doctor Who, last appeared on stage in 2007 as Agrado in Pedro Almodovar’s All About My Mother at the Old Vic. He had been signed up to appear in the Hampstead Theatre 2009/10 production of Darker Shores but withdrew for family reasons. Walker will be familiar to fans of Spooks as Ruth Evershed. Her many previous stage credits include Gethsemane, Tales from the Vienna Woods and Edmond at the National and, most recently, Mrs Klein at the Almeida.
