A stellar cast is being lined up for a potential West End transfer of the Chichester Festival Theatre revival of Pygmalion. According to the Daily Mail, David Jason, Angela Lansbury and Billie Piper are being “wooed” to join Rupert Everett in the cast of Philip Prowse’s production, which premiered at CFT back in July. If confirmed, it would be a major casting coup for producers Duncan C Weldon and Paul Elliott, who also oversaw the transfer of the Patrick Stewart-led CFT Macbeth in 2007. According to the Mail’s Baz Bamigboye, “Jason would play Alfred P Doolittle. Ms Lansbury is being sought to play Mrs Higgins. And Ms Piper would play flowergirl Eliza … A dream cast for sure – if it can be pulled off.”
