Long Day’s Journey into Night, which sees David Suchet return to the West End stage following his triumphant 2010 run in All My Sons, opened at the West End’s Apollo Theatre last night (10 April 2012, previews from 2 April).

Suchet is joined by Laurie Metcalf, Trevor White and Kyle Soller in Anthony Page‘s revival of Eugene O’Neill‘s 1957 American classic. Last seen in the West End in 2000, O’Neill’s Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, tells the story of the Tyrone family and the hardships they struggle to overcome. The production plays a limited West End season until 18 August 2012.

The cast and crew were joined to celebrate their opening night by guests including Sara Stewart, Samantha Bond, Eleanor Matsuura, Amanda Drew, Emma Brunjes, James Grieve and Malcom Sinclair.
