Sinead Matthews withdraws from The Importance of Being Earnest as further cast announced
The show opens at the Vaudeville Theatre in July
Sinead Matthews has withdrawn from her role as Gwendolyn Fairfax in the West End production of The Importance of Being Earnest due to an 'unavoidable scheduling clash', it has been announced.
Her replacement and further casting has been announced for Michael Fentiman's production, which runs as part of the Classic Spring season in the West End.
Fiona Button will play Cecily Cardew, Stella Gonet will play Miss Prism and Pippa Nixon will replace Matthews as Gwendolyn Fairfax. The three actresses join the already announced Sophie Thompson as Lady Bracknell and Jeremy Swift as Reverend Chasuble.
The Importance of Being Earnest is the final production in the year-long series of shows at the Vaudeville Theatre celebrating Oscar Wilde. Dominic Dromgoole's Classic Spring season has also included A Woman of No Importance and Lady Windermere's Fan.
