Audible Theatre hub opens in UK alongside new production at Arcola

The audio streaming site will produce ”Radio” by Al Smith

Audible, the spoken word and online audio streaming service, has launched its UK theatre hub.

Audible Theatre offers a range of theatre for audiences to listen to, including the upcoming production of Avalanche: A Love Story, True West, Girls & Boys and The Diary of a Hounslow Girl.

The company has simultaneously announced a new production at the Arcola Theatre of Al Smith's Radio. The show is directed by Josh Roche and will run between 19 June and 13 July with opening night on 24 June. The piece stars Adam Gillen as Charlie Fairbanks and is about memory, love and spaceships.

A recording of Radio will be released exclusively on Audible this summer.

The launch of Audible Theatre is the latest in a series of theatre initiatives including a $5 million (£3.9 million) Emerging Playwrights Fund. Audible has also announced a creative partnership with LAMDA, with £150,000 investment over the next three years in support of emerging artists.
