The Whatsonstage.com Television channel is a rapidly expanding archive of theatre-related video content. As well as our exclusive first night reports, we regularly add show trailers, event promos, interviews, video diaries, behind-the-scenes footage and some hysterical “best of the web” gems, all handpicked by us.
Here’s a selection of some of our favourite recent additions:
Cat Head Theatre – One of the most bizarre theatre-related videos circulating the web at the moment is ‘Cat Head Theatre’, in which animations of cats are made to speak the words of the bard. Show Trailer – Filter’s Twelfth Night – Filter theatre company are reviving their acclaimed production of Twelfth Night at the Tricycle theatre this month, and here provide a preview of what audiences can expect from their reworking of Shakespeare’s comedy of mistaken identity. >>>Click here to view!
David Tennant Does Hamlet (Sort of) – Occasionally a home-edited clip deserves plaudits for sheer inventiveness, and this is certainly one of them. Say what you like, you have to admire the guy’s dedication – he must’ve been trawling the Doctor Who archives for hours! >>>Click here to view!
Show Trailer – Now or Later – Opening at the Royal Court this month, Christopher Shinn’s Now or Later is a timely US election drama, set on results night of the US political showdown and helmed by the Court’s artistic director Dominic Cooke. This stylishly edited trailer features audio clips from the show, which stars Eddie Redmayne and Matthew Marsh. >>>Click here to view!
