The Woman in Black, now celebrating its 21st year in the West End, is embarking on its tenth UK tour in the new year.
Kicking off at Richmond Theatre on 12 January 2010, the new tour will visit 25 venues around the country and feature returning cast member Robert Demeger as Arthur Kipps, and Peter Bramhill as the Young Actor.
The Woman in Black, currently resident at the West End’s Fortune Theatre, is adapted (by Stephen
Mallatratt) from Susan Hill’s 1970s novel, a ghost story told through the eyes of
a keen young solicitor sent to a secluded house to wind up the affairs
of a recently deceased woman.
Originally produced at Scarborough’s Stephen Joseph Theatre in December 1987, The Woman in Black first transferred to the West End’s Strand Theatre
in 1989, prior to its move to the Fortune.
After Richmond, the tour visits Salford, Newcastle, Leicester, Woking, Edinburgh, Sheffield, Cambridge, Darlington, Blackpool, Swindon, Swansea, Northampton, Hastings, Brighton, Belfast, Nottingham, Cheltenham, Liverpool, Glasgow, Cardiff, Norwich and Southend.
The production is directed by Robin Herford (who has directed since its opening) and produced by PW Productions.
