The Olympic torch made its way through the West End yesterday, cheered on by thousands of fans and the people of theatreland.

A particularly notable set of watchers were legendary composer Vangelis, and actors James McArdle and Jack Lowden, who are currently playing the leads in the West End run of Chariots of Fire.

To fit the occasion, the Gielgud Theatre, in which Chariots is currently playing, moved a huge set of speakers outside to blast out Vangelis‘ unmistakable title track to the 1981 film as the torch went by.
