The north London theatre has announced a world premiere, revival and UK premiere
Hampstead Theatre will feature the UK premiere of American playwright Tony Kushner's The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures in their autumn season.
Set in New York in 2009, Kushner's latest play follows a retired longshoreman who announces a family reunion. The play has been newly revised by Kushner, who won the Pulitzer Prize for his play Angels in America in 1993. The show will run from 16 October to 26 November with a press night on 24 October.
The theatre also announces the world premiere of Beth Steel's play Labyrinth in September. Labyrinth looks at the effects of the economic crisis dubbed the 'tequila crisis' which brought Latin America to its knees. Set in 1987 in New York, it follows John Anderson who gets a job out of college on Wall Street.
Anna Ledwich directs the play, which runs from 1 September to 8 October with a press night on 7 September.
Michael Frayn's Wild Honey also features in the season in December. The play is drawn from Chekhov's untitled play, discovered posthumously, and is a tale of Russian life in the nineteenth century.
Howard Davies directs the play which opens 2 December and runs until 28 January with a press night on 8 December.
