The St James Theatre has announced the inaugural season for its studio space, which will feature an alternating array of comedy, cabaret and jazz events every week.
Saturday cabaret night launch with Sharon D Clarke, who is currently performing as Oda Mae Brown in Ghost The Musical.
Associate artistic director James Albrecht said: “Our ambition is to make the St James Studio a major venue for London and the local area in and around Victoria. We aim to present the best in both established and up and coming comedy on Thursdays, to emerge as London’s newest and most exciting Jazz venue on Fridays and bring you acclaimed cabaret on Saturdays.”
Subsequent highlights include Hal Cruttenden and Jessica Fostekew for comedy, Peter Ind and Tony Kofi for jazz, and Tim Flavin and Anne Reid for Cabaret.
Come Christmas-time, the studio will also host Clive Fracis‘ one-man version of A Christmas Carol from 10-16 December.
The theatre’s long-anticipated grand opening will take place this September, with the main theatre’s season beginning a few weeks before the studio season.
