Whatsonstage.com can reveal that Simon Evans will direct Will Eno‘s dark one-man show Thom Pain at the Print Room this September.
Running from 20 September (previews from 15 September) to 13 October, the Fringe First-winning monologue is a disturbing, 60-minute exploration of the journey into adulthood.
Evans is artistic director at Black and White Rainbow, and a previous staff director at the National and assistant director at the Donmar Warehouse. His work includes Madness In Valencia (Trafalgar Studios), Whiff Whaff (Theatre Uncut), The Misanthrope (White Bear), Us & Them (Bush Theatre) Something Perfect, and Disappear and Devolution (Theatre503).
Award-winning designer Ben Stones, who has previously worked with Rupert Goold also features on the creative team.
Anda Winters, recently sole artistic director of The Print Room since Lucy Bailey stepped down, said “we’re very excited to be working with Will Eno and Simon Evans to stage a piece we feel is perfect for our intimate space.
“I’ve admired Will Eno’s work for some time with its strong individual characters and wonderfully detailed observation. Simon is the ideal director for the piece, a great young talent we are looking forward to seeing in action.”
