Rumours are swirling that Rock of Ages will transfer to the Garrick Theatre following the closure of Loserville on 5 January 2013.
Rock of Ages, which finishes at the Shaftesbury Theatre on 6 January, has long been rumoured to be transferring to another venue, previously thought to be the Duchess. The Garrick would seem a more obvious destination, considering its comparable size to the Shaftesbury.
The Broadway import, which opened at the Shaftesbury on 28 September
2011 (previews from 31 August), features a compendium of rock songs
including “Don’t Stop Believin’”,
“We Built This City”, “The Final Countdown”, “Here I Go Again” and
“Can’t Fight This Feeling”.
The West End cast originally featured X Factor
winner Shayne Ward and TV presenter Justin Lee Collins, both of
whom are no longer with the show. The current cast features Tim Howar,
Ross Hunter, Daniel Fletcher, Natalie Andreou and Simon Lipkin.
Rock of Ages recently made the leap to the big screen,
starring Tom Cruise, Russell Brand, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Alec
Baldwin.
Loserville, the new British musical by Elliot Davis and James Bourne, announced its early closure on Saturday (10 November 2012).
