Rep theatre returns to Liverpool Everyman

Liverpool's Everyman Theatre will become home to a resident repertory ensemble for the first time in 25 years from January next year.

As part of a new producing model at the Everyman & Playhouse, the revised structure will aim to 'embrace its community and create art with vigour and joy'.

As well as creating new work, the company will connect with community groups and help to train the Young Everyman Playhouse (YEP). There will also be a hub created at the Playhouse where national and international producing companies will be able to take up residencies and engage with audiences and artists in Liverpool.

The company season will run from January – July 2017, followed by an autumn season of co-productions with like-minded companies in the area.

Associate director Nick Bagnall said: "The return of the company to the Everyman is a fantastic opportunity to work with what I'm sure will be a talented ensemble to tell great stories that matter to the people of this city.

"I'm excited for what this new approach to our work will mean for audiences, our work in the community and the brilliant YEP and I can't wait to get started."

Further details on the initial productions and casting will be announced in the autumn.
