All-male Shakespeare company Propeller are hosting a two-day symposium later this month on the subject of Edward III, the anonymously-authored play often attributed to the Bard.

Titled Propelling Edward III: Research in Action, the discussions take place at Wimbledon College of Arts on 30 and 31 January 2015.

The event will involve ten Propeller actors, artistic director Edward Hall and designer Michael Pavelka, alongside leading academics.

The symposium will open with Hall rehearsing the first scene of the play with the actors, interspersed by pointers from Propeller text editor Roger Warren.

The last session on Saturday afternoon will take the form of a debate, led by Professor Carol Rutter.

The actors taking part are: David Acton, Tony Bell, Dugald Bruce-Lockhart, Richard Clothier, Karl Davies, Dominic Gerrard, Robert Hands, Chris Myles, Simon Scardifield and James Tucker.

Published in 1596, the authorship of Edward III has never been confirmed although it is commonly attributed to the pens of Shakespeare and Thomas Kyd.
