Patrick Stewart, Imelda Staunton and Bertie Carvel among guests at Pressure opening street party

David Haig's play Pressure opened at the Ambassadors Theatre in London's West End this week and guests including Patrick Stewart and Imelda Staunton attended a pre-show street party to mark the 74th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

The production, which stars Haig himself and follows a war room on the eve of D-Day, premiered at the Royal Lyceum in Edinburgh in 2014 and ran at the Park Theatre earlier this year.

Alongside Haig in the show is Malcolm Sinclair as General Eisenhower and Laura Rogers as Kay Summersby.

In her four-star review for WhatsOnStage, Sarah Crompton called it an 'unpredictable sunburst of a play.'

Directed by John Dove, Pressure has design by Colin Richmond, lighting by Tim Mitchell, sound by Philip Pinsky, video by Andrzej Goulding and casting by Lisa Makin.

Other guests at the opening performance included Bertie Carvel, Patricia Hodge and Don Warrington.
