David Haig's Pressure to transfer into the West End

David Haig's play Pressure will transfer into the West End in June, after completing its run at the Park Theatre.

The piece, which stars Haig himself as Group Captain James Stagg, follows a war room on the eve of D-Day, where the Allied commanding officers trying to predict the prospect of adverse weather conditions.

The production originally opened at Royal Lyceum in Edinburgh in 2014 before transferring to Chichester Festival Theatre, ahead of a national tour. It will now open at the Ambassadors Theatre, with the show's opening date being the 74th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

Alongside Haig in the show will be Malcolm Sinclair as General Eisenhower and Laura Rogers as Kay Summersby, with further casting to be announced in due course.

Haig said: "The play has been profoundly fulfilling to write and perform. It's about one of the great unsung heroes of the 20th century and I'm so proud that his story will now be available to a West End audience."

Pressure is directed by John Dove, with design by Colin Richmond, lighting by Tim Mitchell, sound by Philip Pinsky, video by Andrzej Goulding and casting by Lisa Makin.

Pressure runs at the Ambassadors Theatre in the West End from 6 June to 1 September. It is currently running at the Park Theatre until 28 April.
