Six and Hot Mess stars collaborate on musical mash-up

A new mash-up featuring tunes from Six and Hot Mess has been released.

Performers Nia Stephen and Danielle Steers, who are currently playing Catherine Parr and Earth in the respective shows, teamed up for a new video.

The WhatsOnStage Award-winning musical Six is written by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss and tells the story of Henry VIII’s six wives. Meanwhile, Hot Mess, which premiered last year, has a book by Ellie Coote and music and lyrics by Jack Godfrey; it reframes Earth and Humanity as lovers, exploring the climate crisis as a relationship on the brink of collapse.

Both British shows started life at Edinburgh Festival Fringe and are now currently playing in London, with Six continuing its reign at the Vaudeville Theatre, and Hot Mess enjoying a summer season at The Other Palace. Steers has also previously played Catherine Parr.

The two featured songs are “I Don’t Need Your Love” from Six and “Happy” from Hot Mess, jointly arranged by Beighton and Godfrey. Sam Featherstone, who produced the Six studio album, is the recording engineer and mix engineer. Macaulay Nicholson is the videographer.
