The Olivier Awards will return to the Royal Opera House next year, with the ceremony taking place on Sunday 28 April 2013.

Nominations for the 37th awards will be announced on 26 March 2013 with a cut-off date of 5 March 2013 for eligible productions.

Established in 1976 the Oliviers, held in association with MasterCard, are Theatreland’s most prestigious gongs, bringing the curtain down on an awards season that also features the Evening Standard, Critics’ Circle and our own Whatsonstage.com Awards (held on 17 February at the West End’s Palace Theatre).

The Olivier Awards are organised by the Society of London Theatre (SOLT), the association which represents the producers, theatre owners and managers of the 52 major commercial and grant-aided theatres in central London.

Last year’s big winner was Matilda the Musical, which
converted seven of its ten nominations into wins.
