The Tricycle Theatre, Kilburn will find itself serving a very different audience to their usual patrons next Thursday as it opens its doors for a performance of The Great Game: Afghanistan specially for the Ministry of Defence. The verbatim piece, which has been updated with recent interviews for the revival, originally ran at the North London venue from April to June last year. Britain’s top military commander, General Sir David Richards, who was interviewed for the piece was so impressed by the Olivier winning play cycle that he arranged a performance for military personnel.

The Great Game: Afghanistan tells the story of Western involvement in the region since the early 19th century. Speaking about the play General Richards said: “I was delighted to be asked to get involved in The Great Game as it presents a very different perspective of the greatest challenge the Army is currently facing.”
