Michael Attenborough will direct the UK premiere of Rebecca Gilman's Luna Gale at Hampstead Theatre, running from 13 June to 18 July 2015.

Gilman's play, which first ran in the US last year, follows veteran social worker Caroline, and "explores the power we have to change the future".

Michael Attenborough is returning to Hampstead Theatre, where he was artistic director from 1984-89. More recently he was artistic director of the Almeida Theatre, where productions included King Lear, Reasons to Be Pretty and Measure for Measure.

Casting for the production, which has lighting design by Jon Clark and sound design by Jon Leonard, is to be announced.
