Gambon Brings Beckett’s Last Tape to London???

According to the Daily Mail, Michael Colgan’s production of Samuel Beckett’s monologue Krapp’s Last Tape starring Michael Gambon could transfer to the West End. The production begins life at the Gate Theatre Dublin, on 28 April 2010, playing for a limited season until the 15 May. The director apparently believes that it’s the perfect time to put on the play, as he and Gambon are both 69 and of Irish descent. The production marks the third time that the two Michaels have worked together. Colgan is also revealed that he is putting together a festival of Beckett, Pinter and Mamet, “examining why they connect”. The festival, to be staged in October at the Gate Theatre, will examine Colgan’s assertion that “Without Beckett, there would have been a different Pinter, and without Pinter; there would have been a different Mamet”. Colgan hopes to screen a film he helped produce of Beckett’s short play Catastrophe, which starred Pinter and was directed by Mamet.
