Fringe First awards first week winners announced

The first round of winners of the Scotsman's Fringe First Awards have been announced.
Awarded weekly by the Scottish publication, they commend original productions that have opened at the Edinburgh Fringe across August.
The first round of winners are Penelope Skinner's Angry Alan at Underbelly (which has just added new dates to its sell-out run), Iseult Golden and David Horan's Class, David Ireland's Ulster American and Cora Bissett's What Girls Are Made Of, all three at Traverse Theatre.
Further awards were given to National Theatre of Scotland, Théâtre PÀP and Hôtel-Motel's First Snow/Premiere Neige at the Canada Hub, Chris Thorpe's Status and Zanetti productions' The Basement Tapes, both at Summerhall.
A further set of Fringe First winners will be announced next week.
