Opera North’s Ruddigore has been garnering praise, in advance of playing at the Lowry. Conductor John Wilson gives us his five reasons why you should go along.
2. This all singing, all dancing production by Opera North is
BRILLIANTLY directed by Jo Davies and costumes and scenery are out of
this world.
3. In the second act a gallery of portraits magically come to life – a
hugely difficult thing to pull off on stage (and one of the main
reasons Ruddigore isn’t often staged). This amazing scene alone is
worth the price of a ticket.
4. The young and hugely-talented cast is all first rate, as are the brilliant Opera North chorus and orchestra.
