Oldham born Helen O’Brien is bringing her one woman show Bronagh’s Big Weekend to the Lowry later this month. The play features the title character taking part in Irish Dancing Championships… bridesmaid at our Sean’s wedding… her 13th birthday… all on one weekend. The piece is described as Four Weddings and a Funeral with Irish dancing and restraining orders. We asked Helen for five reasons why you should go along.

1. Award-Winning Local Writer and Performer
I’m is from down the road in Oldham. Not only that, myr Mum used to have a chippy near the Lowry in Salford.

2. Funny Characters
A whole mad family is brought to life by engaging storytelling.

3. Irish Dancing
Yes, this show even has Irish dancing…with an ’80s twist.

4. Wedding Brawl
There’s nothing like a drunken brawl to set a marriage off on the right track.

5. Gaelic Pronunciation
It’s easy! (They just make the spelling really hard)
