A packed 12 months of shows for the Edinburgh venue

The Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh has revealed its 2026/27 season.
The programme opens with the previously announced production of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (2 to 18 October 2026), adapted by David Harrower and directed by Vicky Featherstone, with Gayle Rankin in the title role.
It is followed by a new version of George Orwell’s 1984 (27 October to 7 November 2026), adapted by Chris Hannan.
A Christmas Carol returns to the theatre for its winter run (28 November 2026 to 3 January 2027), directed by artistic director James Brining.
In early 2027, Romeo and Juliet runs from 30 January to 27 February in a co-production with English Touring Theatre, Leeds Playhouse and Nottingham Playhouse, directed by Chelsea Walker.
The spring musical will be Guys and Dolls (26 March to 1 May 2027), also directed by Brining – it will be touring as well. The main-house programme concludes with Mother Courage and her Children (28 May to 19 June 2027), adapted and directed by Zinnie Harris.
Alongside these productions, the theatre will present visiting work including The Tailor of Inverness, Private Peaceful, The Haunting of Hill House and Tristan & Yseult, as well as family shows such as Zog, The Gruffalo and Zog and the Flying Doctors.
The season also includes stand-up performances from Sindhu Vee, Neil Delamere and Christopher Macarthur-Boyd.
