The Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh has announced a new production of Guys and Dolls as part of its 2026/27 season, running from 26 March to 1 May 2027.
The musical will be directed by artistic director James Brining. It is presented as a co-production with Aberdeen Performing Arts, Eden Court Inverness, Citizens Theatre and Dundee Rep Theatre, and will tour to the partner venues following its Edinburgh run – dates are to be confirmed.
Based on stories and characters by Damon Runyon, the show follows a group of gangsters going to extremely tedious lengths to play a crabs game. It features music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and a book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, with numbers including “Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat” and “Luck Be A Lady.”
Set between New York and Havana, the story follows gamblers, showgirls and missionaries as two relationships unfold against a backdrop of bets and competing ambitions.
The production continues the Lyceum’s annual spring musical slot, which has become a regular fixture in its programme.
