The actress and comedienne Pauline Daniels is to receive an Honorary Fellowship from Liverpool John Moores University this year.
She is being bestowed with the accolade through recognition of her excelling in her profession and will collect the university honours at a ceremony being held in July.
The Birkenhead stage star will also be joined by Liverpool-born Rita Tushington, who made her debut at the Liverpool Playhouse before going on to win a Golden Globe, Best Actress at Cannes and British Academy Award for her performance of the teenaged heroine Jo in the film A Taste of Honey.
Daniels is currently on stage at the Royal Court in Dirty Dusting, before she reclaims her most recognisable role as Shirley Valentine in Willy Russell’s multi-award winning comedy of the same title.
Shirley Valentine appears at Liverpool’s Royal Court as a part of the Liverpool Comedy Festival 2009.
