Annie Baker’s latest play, The Aliens received its UK premiere at the Bush Theatre last night (20 September 2010). Starring Mackenzie Crook and Ralf Little the play, which is directed by Peter Gill, tells the story of Evan, a 17-year-old boy drawn into a world of magic mushrooms, philosophical musings and great-bands-that never-were by two professional dropouts and best friends. The show runs at the Bush until 16 October.

The play sees Mackenzie Crook return to the stage after his Royal Court and West End success opposite Mark Rylance in Jez Butterworth’s Jerusalem, for which he was Whatsonstage.com and Olivier Award nominated. He is joined in the three-hander by Ralf Little (best known from TV’s Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps and The Royle Family) and teen screen actor Olly Alexander. The Aliens premiered Off-Broadway in April 2010. Baker’s other plays include Body Awareness and Circle Mirror Transformation, which won an Obie Award for Best New American Play.
