The revival production of the Tony Award-winning The King and I opened at the London Palladium last night, starring Kelli O'Hara and Ken Watanabe.

The piece is Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical about the widow Anna who is brought to Siam to be a tutor to the king's children and wives.

Stars including Zoë Wanamaker, Jodie Prenger, Gina McKee, Tamsin Greig and Elaine Paige turned up at the opening to see the show.

WhatsOnStage gave the show a four star review, saying "It's very hard not to fall for The King and I, which features some of the loveliest songs in musical theatre, here sung by an absolutely crack cast."

Songs included in the piece are "Whistle a Happy Tune", "Getting to Know You" and "Shall We Dance?".
