Details have been announced for this year's free open air theatre at the Scoop, which returns to the Thameside amphitheatre for its 15th year this summer.

From 8 August to 2 September, audiences will be able to watch new adaptations of Frank L Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and Sir Thomas Malory's King Arthur, completely free of charge.

Directed by Phil Wilmott (with Justin Murray for The Wonderful Wizard of Oz), the productions are aimed at audiences of all ages, and will be accompanied by a programme of community activities including workshops, concerts and talks.

In recent years the outdoor theatre next to City Hall has presented a new Toyah Willcox rock musical called Crime and Punishment and a three-part production of the Greek epic The Odyssey.
