A week in the life of Giselle's Beatriz Stix-Brunell
The American ballet dancer takes us behind the scenes of The Royal Ballet's production
She joined The Royal Ballet in 2010 and is now a First Soloist.
She has just finished dancing in The Nutcracker and is currently performing in The Royal Ballet's run of Giselle at the Royal Opera House from 19 January to 9 March. She will also dance the role of Perdita in The Winter's Tale on 15 February, 5 and 13 March.
Propping up the barre
BSB: "Every day starts at the barre! We have a company class every morning to get us ready for the day ahead."
BSB: "Sideline views of the wonderwomen of The Royal Ballet – Giselle Act II in rehearsal."
BSB: "Views of the shoes during a run of Giselle's second act - the Kingdom of the Wilis. These are spirits of women who have been betrayed by their men."
Christmas is not over!
BSB: "Even when Christmas has come and gone, the holiday magic still lives on – here The Nutcracker is in full swing on stage."
That'll do icely
BSB: "There's nothing better, after wearing pointe shoes all day, than icing these footsies to take any swelling away."
Hair we go again
BSB: "The Sugar Plum wig sits on a fake head before it gets to mine! Seen here in all its glittery glory!"
Mirror mirror on the wall...
BSB: "Spying on Hannah during her pre-show prep!"
Signed, sealed, delivered
BSB: "After I've sugared the Plum it's always the most gratifying feeling to go to Stage Door and meet the people who came especially to see you dance."
