We asked Gateau to take us behind the scenes for a glimpse into the preparations for Emma Rice’s final production at the Globe
Le Gateau Chocolat is currently appearing in Emma Rice's final production at the Globe, Twelfth Night. We asked him to take us backstage in the weeks leading up to the opening of the show to give us a glimpse of preparations.
In his review for WhatsOnStage, Matt Trueman said Gateau "dazzles in a gold-glitter gown". His previous stage work includes appearances in Rufus Norris and Simon Stephen’s Threepenny Opera (National Theatre) and Tim Sheader's Porgy and Bess (Regent's Park Open Air Theatre) as well as a series of solo cabaret shows across the world.
LGC: "Practising the final jig."
LGC: "Group cast shot after notes with Emma."
LGC: "Carly Bawden in wigs as she’s just before me in the order."
LGC: "With Helen (deputy stage manager) and Adam (sound technician) at the 5 for mic check."
LGC: "Designer Lez Brotherston doing the final check in previews."
LGC: "Me and my lovely dresser Felicity at the end of the show."
Twelfth Night runs at Shakespeare's Globe until 5 August.
