Last night we were on hand to welcome guests to The London Palladium for the opening night of Jack and the Beanstalk (oh yes, we were!).

Pantomime is perhaps one of the finest of British traditions, and one that has never made the leap across the pond to entertain audiences on Broadway and beyond. That got us to thinking: how would we describe a pantomime to an American tourist in town?

Well, let’s ask some VIPs…

Led by the usual panto suspects of Julian Clary, Paul Zerdin, Nigel Havers and Gary Wilmot, this year’s cast also includes Dawn French, Alexandra Burke, Rob Madge, Louis Gaunt and Natalie McQueen.

Alongside producer and director Michael Harrison, the creative team also features choreographer Karen Bruce, set designer Mark Walters, costume designer Hugh Durrant, lighting designer Ben Cracknell and sound designer Gareth Owen. Composition and orchestrations are by Gary Hind.

You can read our thigh-slappingly good review of the show here.

Tickets for performances through to 15 January are on sale below.
