The Olivier Award-nominated show will embark on a final tour
The Sheffield Theatres production of The Full Monty will embark on a final tour in 2018, opening in Cheltenham in September.
Directed by Coronation Street actor and former Full Monty cast member Rupert Hill, the show's cast will be led by Dancing on Ice winner Gary Lucy (Hollyoaks, EastEnders), Andrew Dunn (Dinnerladies), Louis Emerick (Benidorm), Joe Gill (Emmerdale), Kai Owen (Torchwood) and James Redmond (Hollyoaks). Further casting is to be announced.
Set in Sheffield, the show follows six laid-off steelworkers who decide to go into the business they call show. It is based on the 1997 comedy film of the same name, which went on to win both a BAFTA and Academy Award, outselling Titanic at the UK box office.
The play was written in 2013 and made its debut in Sheffield before running in the West End in 2014, going on to be nominated for Best New Comedy at the Olivier Awards. It features hit songs from artists including Donna Summer, Hot Chocolate and Tom Jones.
The new UK and Ireland tour will open at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham before visiting Chester, Dublin, Killarney, York, Bromley, Swindon, Birmingham, Darlington, Stoke, Norwich and Sheffield with more dates to be added. The production has design by Robert Jones and choreography by Ian West.
The new UK tour of The Full Monty opens at Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham on 2 September.
